NF/SG Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU)

The Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU) is housed in a stand alone building occupying 4200 square feet. The VMU is staffed by two full-time animal caretakers who provide care seven days a week including holidays. Dr. Karl Andrutis is the Consulting Veterinary Medical Officer (VMO) for the VMU. Dr. Harvey Ramirez Perez is his designee.
The VMU facilities include surgical areas (surgeon prep, sterile OR, pre-op, and post-op recovery area), BSL-2 housing, and surgical room. The facility can accommodate SPF, BSL-2 and conventional rodent housing. Only SPF rabbits are accepted into the facility.
