Safety / HRPP / Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) / WOC (Without Compensation) / Policies / GECL (Gene Expression Core Lab) / VMU (Veterinary Medical Unit) / Research Common Resource Equipment
The purpose of the Subcommittee on Research Safety (SRS) is to ensure the safety of VA personnel conducting VA research. No research project may commence prior to final approval by the Research and Development Committee (R&DC). These procedures apply to all VA research projects, regardless of funding source or administration office.
All research studies must have an initial Research Protocol Safety Evaluation completed and submitted at the time of the initial submission to the HRPP Office or the IACUC Office.
NOTE: ALWAYS DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST FORMS FOR ALL SAFETY SUBMISSIONS!
For all safety submissions please provide a COMPLETE electronic copy (including signatures and all attachments), as unsigned MS Word documents.
ALL FORMS MUST BE TYPED, FULLY COMPLETED, AND INCLUDE ALL ATTACHMENTS.

Submitting a protocol to the HRPP office

All VA human studies must be submitted to the HRPP Office prior to IRB approval.
Submitting a protocol to the IACUC office

All VA animal studies must be submitted to the VA IACUC Office.
Submitting a protocol to the SRS office

All VA bench/lab studies must be submitted to the VA SRS Office.
