The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System serves Veterans across a large geographical area in North Florida (31 counties) and South Georgia (19 counties). In addition to our two medical centers in Gainesville and Lake City, we offer a number of services to our patients in several satellite outpatient clinics and community-based outpatient clinics. For more information about any of our facilities, please visit the individual facility pages via the links at right.
Information Desks at the Medical Centers
The Information Desks are located on the first floor of each medical center at the Main Entrance (Front Lobby) and at the Outpatient (Ambulatory Care) Entrance. Volunteers and/or staff are at the Information Desks Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. At the Information Desk, you can:
- Find information on the location and general condition of inpatients listed in the Patient Directory.

Patient safety is our number one concern. We have a VA Police Service with uniformed federal officers stationed at the medical centers. Our officers provide 24-hour patrols of the facility and parking lots. At our clinics/additional locations, we utilize local authorities and emergency services, should the need arise.
If you find you are in need of Police assistance, please ask a staff member who can put you in touch with the appropriate authorities. To help keep our campuses safe, please report all suspicious or criminal activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property losses to the VA Police while on the facility grounds as soon as possible.
Because the VA healthcare system is federal property, all persons and bags are subject to search. In addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted.
A nondenominational chapel is located on the first floor of each medical center (details on Chaplain Service page). Members of the clergy are welcome to visit patients who are members of their particular religious group at any time at the discretion of the unit physicians or nurses. Our Chaplain Service is also available to provide spiritual/pastoral care support to patients.
