Palliative Care

About the Program

The Palliative Care Unit (PCU) is an 8 bed short stay inpatient unit located at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center Community Living Center (CLC). The Palliative Care Unit specializes in the care of Veterans who are dealing with life limiting illnesses and need assistance with pain control and symptom management. The goal of a PCU admission is to assist the patient with improving their quality of life. Each of our 8 bed units offers a private room with a sofa bed or chair to accommodate overnight visitors and family, if desired. We provide a caring environment where the goals of care are focused on promoting quality of life. We work closely with area hospice facilities and can assist with transitioning the Veteran closer to home. Additional information on the Palliative Care Unit.
