NF/SGVHS set to activate new St. Augustine Clinic - The new St. Augustine Veterans Affairs (VA) Clinic of the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) will open on June 22, 2021, and will be renamed the Leo C. Chase, Jr. VA Clinic. (06/17/2021)

Recent Data Published Highlight Quality of Care at NF/SGVHS - Receiving a 4 out of 5 patient survey star rating on the site, illustrates how patient’s rate their experiences at NF/SGVHS and is an aspect of hospital quality that helps other Veterans choose where they receive their health care. Virtual Veterans Town Hall Meeting Scheduled for June 4 - The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) will host a Virtual Veterans town hall meeting on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. During the town hall, NF/SGVHS leaders will provide updates on VA operations and improvement initiatives regarding VA health care. NF/SGVHS COVID-19 Vaccine Operations - May 18, 2021 - Starting Monday, May 24, 2021 the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #2391 will transition back to the St. Augustine Community Based Outpatient Clinic located at 195 Southpark Blvd., St. Augustine, FL 32086. No vaccines will be administered at the VFW Post #2391 this week (May 17-21, 2021). (05/18/2021)

AACN Recognizes Medical Surgical Unit at MRVAMC - The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), Aliso Viejo, California, recently recognized nurses on 3 East (medical surgical unit) at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville Florida with a gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence. Our fight against COVID-19 continues but our mission remains - Our health care teams at North Florida/ South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) have earned that trust, working on the frontlines to provide care to those most in need. We began implementing safety measures over a year ago to protect Veterans and our staff from getting sick. As part of prioritizing safety, for each appointment we’ve had to weigh the options and risks with our patients. When clinical urgency rose above the risk of COVID-19, we provided in-person care. Jacksonville VA Clinic to offer COVID-19 Vaccines at off-site location - The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System’s, (NF/SGVHS) Jacksonville VA Outpatient Clinic is moving its COVID-19 vaccination clinic to a new off-site leased location at , (5150 Timquana Road Suite 6, Jacksonville, FL 32210), beginning, Friday, April 23, 2021. The off-site location will provide COVID-19 vaccination services to anyone who served in the military, their caregivers and spouses, and some other beneficiaries under the authority granted by the SAVE LIVES Act, signed by President Joe Biden on March 24, 2021. NF/SGVHS Surpasses COVID-19 Vaccination Milestone - NF/SGVHS facilities began vaccinating frontline healthcare workers and vulnerable Veterans residing in our long-term care facilities in mid-December. Weeks later, the health system began vaccinating additional groups of Veterans considered high-risk and has since, expanded vaccination efforts to any eligible Veteran interested in receiving the vaccine. NF/SGVHS Celebrates a Century of Service at the Lake City VA Medical Center - What is now the Lake City Medical Center was the original site of the Florida Agricultural College. In 1920, the site was purchased by the U.S. government and after extensive renovations, the first patient was admitted on December 6, 1920. (03/26/2021)

NF/SGVHS to Recognize and Celebrate Vietnam Veterans the Week of March 29 - Vietnam Veterans will have the opportunity to receive a special commemorative lapel pin at outside the Malcom Randall and Lake City VA Medical Center’s. North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System Identified as Nation's Most Complex VA Healthcare - The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) has recently been identified as the most complex Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system in the country. Every three years, the VA categorizes its hospitals based on complexity which consists of; patient population, clinical services available, and the education and research programs and services offered to Veterans. Complexity levels assist with grouping similar organizations for operational reports, performance reviews, research studies, and budget funding under the Veterans Equitable Resource Allocation model. VA strike team administers COVID-19 Vaccines to Rural Veterans - To increase vaccination efforts to rural Veterans, the health system repurposed its Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center (GRECC) Education Mobile Unit to transport the COVID-19 vaccine to the clinic. (03/12/2021)

NF/SGVHS Begins Janssen COVID-19 Vaccinations - “Our health system is eager to be able to offer a third highly effective vaccine to more Veterans,” said Thomas Wisnieski, health system director. “This one-dose vaccine will be offered at our community-based outpatient clinics and help us reach our ultimate goal of offering the COVID-19 vaccine to all Veterans and employees who want to be vaccinated.” (03/08/2021)

Updated COVID-19 Vaccine Deployment Information for Currently Enrolled Veterans - The North Florida/ South Georgia Veterans Health System is holding COVID-19 vaccine clinics at all sites of care for currently enrolled Veterans 65+ and for currently enrolled Veterans who serve as essential workers. Essential workers include fire fighters, police officers, corrections officers, food and agricultural workers, United States Postal Service workers, manufacturing workers, grocery store workers, public transit workers, and those who work in the educational sector (teachers, support staff, and daycare workers). Veterans who serve in this capacity will need to bring identification or documentation that verifies their employment in one of these essential worker categories. (01/19/2021)

VA Awards Major Lease for Jacksonville Clinic - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) awarded the lease for a new replacement outpatient clinic in Jacksonville, Florida . The project will allow VA to enhance primary care, mental health, and expand onsite Radiology, Optometry and Audiology services. The multi-specialty rooms included in the project will assist in expanding women’s health services and telehealth, among other specialties. If there is an issue involving honoring military members and Veterans he’s making his voice heard – like a recent protest of the local school board’s decision to use Veterans Day as a ‘make up’ school day. VIETNAM VETERANS TRIBUTE 2019: A Renaissance Soldier Honors A Friend - Tom Equels is a busy guy. He serves as CEO of an immunology research and development company working hard toward finding a better way to treat solid tumor cancers. He operates a 100-acre thoroughbred horse farm where he raises 17 of his own animals, including several newborns — and another 75 horses who board on his property. And, when the former Army Aviation Branch Chief Warrant Officer and Vietnam Cobra gunship pilot is not multitasking from those two, he oversees fundraisers for his local Catholic church, is grandfather to three rambunctious boys and is an artist.
