North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System
Fisher House Serving North Florida/South Georgia
NF/SGVHS Fisher House on the campus of the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville.
The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) Fisher House was established through the hard work of many dedicated individuals and organizations, including the: Gainesville Fisher House Foundation, hundreds of Veterans associations and individuals, the Rotary Club of Gainesville, and the national Fisher House Foundation.
The NF/SGVHS Fisher House is 100% handicap accessible and has 20 guest rooms. There are also several common use areas for guests' convenience, including: a communal kitchen, laundry facilities, living area, study area, and an outdoor summer kitchen. It serves the 50 counties in the NF/SGVHS service area and is expected to house an average 750 families every year.
The house will serve as a refuge to families of Veterans and military Servicemembers as their loved one undergoes treatment, often for traumatic, war-related medical crises. Families may have to leave jobs and homes to be with their loved one for extended periods of time due to the severity of their loved one's injuries or illnesses. The Gainesville Fisher House Foundation and the North Florida/South Georgia Fisher House are proud to provide a haven for these families and to give back to those who have given us so much.
