Social Work

Social workers are here to help you with:

  • Patient education;
  • Getting services outside the hospital for health and social needs;
  • Counseling (including money matters) and crisis intervention;
  • Talking to your doctor or nurse about your health, treatment or case management.

Social Work Service manages the largest contract nursing home program in the nation and one of the most active Hoptel programs in the VA system. Additionally, the service coordinates the contracted Adult Day Health Care Program and provides liaison services between the VA and the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs' Domiciliary in Lake City and Nursing Home in Daytona Beach.

Active affiliations with the social work programs at Florida State University and Florida A&M University provide an excellent opportunity for VA staff to work with some of the finest graduate students in the profession.
