The Minority Veterans Program conducts outreach activities, disseminates information, and serves as a resource center for the exchange of information regarding improvement of services available to minority veterans. The Program Coordinator hears and evaluates complaints and queries made by or on behalf of minority veterans, and assists minority veterans on an individual basis.
Mission
To ensure that the VA addresses the unique circumstances and special needs of minority veterans.
Scope of Service
To serve as the Center for Minority Veterans (VA Central Office) liaison to the Gainesville Division and its associated clinics. To ensure that benefits and services are provided to veterans in the following protected groups: African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans (American Indians, Alaskan Natives, Native Hawaiians), and Pacific Island Americans. To administer the VISN 8 Diversity and Sensitivity Education Campaign. To organize and seek the advice of the Community Liaison Councils.
