Most veterans including National Guard and Reservists, who served in a theater of combat operations after November 11, 1998, are eligible to receive cost-free VA health care for combat-related conditions and enhanced enrollment priority for 5 years after separation from active duty. Attention Returning Combat Veterans
The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System has set up an e-mail* address for questions specifically related to your healthcare issues. Because you may be experiencing symptoms you’ve never had before, you may want to question the professionals. Questions about sleeplessness, anger, irritability, memory problems, and others may be questions you never thought you’d have to ask… these are normal feelings for the abnormal situation you found yourself in during your deployment. We would like to help you answer those questions, please e-mail * VetsReturning@va.gov with any questions regarding your health care. Or you may contact the nearest VA facility to be seen immediately.

Military Severely Injured Center
"Seamless support as long as it may take" is the mission of the Military Severely Injured Center. VA is part of this nationwide team set up by the Department of Defense to meet the immediate financial, health care, employment and family needs of severely wounded Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. Veterans and family members can call 1-888-774-1361 anytime for immediate assistance. The center is an advocate for the severely injured; there to cut red tape, coordinate local assistance and help veterans meet the challenges of readjustment. The center works closely with local groups, veterans service organizations, businesses, chambers of commerce, religious organizations and other donors to support the return and long-term reintegration of severely disabled veterans into their communities through Heroes to Hometown Committees. For information on establishing a committee, go to www.MilitaryHomeFront.dod.mil and search "Military Severely Injured Support. "
